I provide educators, schools, and school districts with high quality advice, guidance, and training, and investigative, policy development, and technical assistance to assess and address school climate concerns. Among my services are the following:
- Applying a practical, step-by-step, comprehensive approach for preventing and addressing harassment, bullying, and hate crimes in schools and cyberspace.
- Conducting school-climate needs assessments and developing data-driven districtwide and school-based action plans. “School Climate Needs Assessments” help identify a school’s strengths and challenges and root causes of its school climate and safety problems. It examines multiple dimensions of school climate and culture, including school safety, bullying and harassment, educational equity, cultural competence, race relations, strategies for promoting children’s social and emotional development, and other school climate factors that affect safety and learning.
- It includes (1) collecting and analyzing key information about the school, students, staff, parents, and community and its policies, programs, and practices; (2) evaluating experiences, attitudes, observations, and perceptions through focus group discussions and, where requested, through student and staff surveys; (3) making school site observations; and (4) interviewing key district, school, and community leaders.
- We draft an in-depth report containing data-driven findings and conclusions, identifying technical assistance and training needs, and making specific recommendations for new approaches and solutions, including revising policies, programs, and strategies.
